Who can use ComLink?
The amount of technical detail displayed by ComLink varies according to the user of the system. We distinguish four types of user role:
End-Users End-users will not need to know any technical details in their ComLink application.
Facilitators Facilitators (for example helpers, teachers, therapists, or experienced End-users) will make small changes, using the toolbar. A Facilitator should be local to the end user, so these changes can be made as quickly as possible.
Integrators Integrators (for example technically-confident therapists, teachers or experienced facilitators, probably based at an assessment centre) will make more radical changes, and may even create new applications. An Integrator could be regional, rather than local, since major changes tend to be needed less frequently.
Component
Developers
Component developers (Java programmers, probably working in RT companies) will create new ComLink components, which could be made generally available to Integrators either commercially or as shareware. In this way, the range of possible applications that can be created with ComLink can be greatly extended over time.
